š This Weekās Shroom Drop: Pink, Pearl, Summer & Little Lionās Mane Clouds
The Shroomery is looking particularly pretty this week. The fruiting room has been busy producing a proper little mushroom rainbow, and this weekās Shroom Drop is packed with some absolute beauties.
On the menu: Pink Oysters, Pearl Oysters, Summer Oysters and those ridiculously cute little Lionās Mane clouds. āļøš
šø Pink Oysters
Bright, blushing and gloriously ruffled, our Pink Oysters are basically the extroverts of the mushroom world.
They have a delicate texture and a lovely savoury flavour, and theyāre fantastic when cooked quickly over a high heat until the edges go beautifully crispy.
Try them in tacos, stir-fries, pasta or simply torn into a hot pan with butter, garlic and a pinch of salt. Minimal effort. Maximum shroom.
š¤ Pearl Oysters
The dependable all-rounders.
Pearl Oysters have that classic oyster mushroom shape and a wonderfully meaty texture. Theyāre brilliant for everything from a quick midweek dinner to turning into a seriously good mushroom burger.
Tear them rather than chopping them for bigger, chewier pieces, then fry until golden and caramelised. Add garlic, herbs and a splash of soy sauce and suddenly dinner has its life together, even if you don't.
āļø Summer Oysters
Summer Oysters are back in the fruiting room, bringing their own slightly wild-looking charm to this week's boxes.
Theyāre beautifully versatile and particularly good simply fried until golden. Chuck them into ramen, noodles, risotto or a big pile of buttery toast.
Honestly, mushrooms on toast is one of the great culinary achievements of humanity. We will not be taking questions at this time.
āļø Little Lionās Mane Clouds
And then there are the Lionās Mane clouds.
Small, fluffy and looking suspiciously like something that escaped from a magical woodland, these little beauties are a proper treat.
Lionās Mane has a fantastic texture when cooked well, becoming wonderfully tender with crisp golden edges. Tear it into chunks, cook it in a little oil or butter and let it brown properly before seasoning.
You can keep it simple, or use it as the star of a sandwich, burger or crispy mushroom āsteakā.
